Mass Migration

Image result for mass migration photo
I think that this Mass Migration is a good idea but then again it isn't. Having a wall from blocking the Mexicans is a good idea because they can tend to hide idiotic things in vans, it is a bad idea because some of them just want to have a good life in America.

When Rubber Hits The Road

I interviewed 3 of my friends, I asked them what they were most proud of and why.

Skyla "I am proud of moving up in all my learning subjects because I always thought that I was bad at them and I have finally become very proud of them."

Rottpon "I am most proud of being in Mrs Faalili's class for 1 week because I didn't get the chance to be in her class during my 8 years here."

Bridget " I am most proud of being with Mrs Fonua for 1 year and sharing a vibe with all my classmates."

If I was Garry Kasparov, I would feel all these things during games or even practices.

Black Ferns Gender Pay Gap

Image result for black ferns gender pay gap

In my opinion, the gender pay gap is not fair! Female Athletes should get payed the same as Male Athletes because they work as hard as males and they try their best to successes. Even if they don't get the result they wanted, they keep a smile on their faces. The male athletes are the same because nobody is perfect.

BFG Character Description

BFG

The Big Friendly Giant is a patient, generous and mysterious. He has short silky white hair and his ears are enormous! He dresses in a chocolate brown vest with old green track pants. He is not like the other Giants. He enjoys helping people and catching dreams. Everyday, the poor, lonely giant feels the same. He taste strange and evil people coming his way, he felt darkness rise inside of him, he smelt fear on children and heard screams from children seeing the giants. The BFG was different and just by meeting one girl, his life changed forever.

A task for Summer Learning Journey was to create my own Pepeha. A Pepeha is a small amount of information about yourself and where you are from.

Mr Thomas Wood Tech

For the past 12 weeks the year 7/8 class has been making boxes with Mr Thomas. I thank Mr Thomas for sharing these ideas with us and for teaching us how to be safe with wood and tools. The tools that were included were, Saws, Wooden Mallets, Sanding Papers, Chisels, Hammers, Waxing, Pencils, Tri-Squares and Rulers. I learnt that you should always listen to the instructions because if 1 little thing goes wrong then your box is messed up.

Museum Trip

Museum Trip

We went to the Auckland Museum to learn about Tapa and Tivaevae. Tapa and Tivaevae are from the Islands and the more older the fabric is, the more valuable it is. Tapa is a type of cloth that is given to people at special occasions. Tivaevae was used to distract people from doing Tapa and focus more on Tivaevae.  We went to see different parts of the Museum and my favourite place was the Volcanoes place because there was an Earthquake room. I also really liked our 1 hour lesson earning about Tapa and Tivaevae because we made our owns Tapas. I really hope I can go again next year and have even more fun.

If You Had One Spirit Animal For A Day What Would You Be?Why?
If I had one Spirit Animal for a day, I would be a butterfly because they give people good vibes and they show that sun if coming out. A butterfly is very beautiful and I would love to experience being beautiful. A butterfly also can fly around and make me feel positive and like that day is going to be a great, beautiful and wonderful day.

Private or Public

For Cybersmart this week, Ms Collins gave us a task of cut and copying each statement on either it would be safe to post or to keep it private. It was very challenging for me and my friends but we got through it and we are proud of it. After that, we saw what was suppose to be in the green and red column. I got most of it wrong but I am still proud of myself.

Making Butter From Cream

Making butter for a science experiment was very fun and interesting to learn. I didn't know how easy it was to make butter and I learnt a lot about raw milk and cows. We got cream and put in the jar then we kept on shaking it until it became butter mixture. After the experiment we put our butter on bread and tried it. It was fun and exciting, I can't wait to do another one throughout the term.

Manaiakalani Learner Questionaire

I liked that the questions were very specific and easy to read and answer. The most trickiest questions for me was the one with asking about if Learn Create Share helps my culture, I did not get it and I still don't get it. They did not ask our age, I think that I should get chocolate in reward for being patient and communicating with others.

Blog Profile 2019

Hi my name is Alanna. I am a year 7 attending Glen Taylor School and I am in Room 12. I am Samoan and I am 11 years old.  I have one sister and one brother. Mr Raj is my teacher for 2019. When I grow older I really want to be photographer and share my cool photos with the world. I also want to own an art Museum with all my photos.

I think that I am good Math and I really enjoy learning new skills. I challenge myself to learn more tips and skills about the explanation writing structure. My goal for the year is too learn all about decimals and fraction but besides math it is too increase my skills in reading.

My role model is my brother because he is very confident and he listens to other people's ideas. My brother made his name known very well at this school, so that makes me want to follow in his footsteps. I am very excited to be sharing my important learning on my blog and to make new friends throughout the year.
